Terms of Service

Appty is operated by Rita Chiu, operating Appty as an individual in Hong Kong. Contact hello@getappty.com. We do not publish a postal address; please write to hello@getappty.com. Effective date: 15 October 2026.

These terms are the agreement for using Appty: the website, service provider accounts, booking pages, and the tools for sessions, payments, and invoices. The service provider supplies the session. Appty supplies the software.

Who these terms cover

They apply to a service provider who opens an account, to a client or parent who books or pays on a service provider's page, and to anyone who browses the site.

Eligibility

A service provider account needs an email address you control, and the details you give us must be true. You must be able to enter a binding contract. The minimum age for a service provider account is 18. When a session is for a child, a parent or guardian makes the booking.

Accounts

Service providers sign in with a one-time link sent by email. You are responsible for activity under that email address, and for keeping the inbox under your control. We may refuse an account, or close one, if these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy are broken.

The service

Appty is software for booking, payments, and invoices. We are not a school, and we do not act as the service provider's agent for a session. We are not a party to the agreement between a service provider and a client. We are not a bank, and we do not hold the money a client pays for a session. Card payments are processed by Stripe as direct charges on the service provider's connected account.

Service providers, payments, and Stripe

A service provider who takes card payments connects their own Stripe account. For those payments the service provider is the merchant of record. The service provider is responsible for the session, the price, the cancellation policy, refunds, taxes on the session, and for complying with the laws that apply to their work.

A service provider who receives payments through Appty agrees to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which includes the Stripe Services Agreement.

Checkout names the service provider's connected account as the merchant of record and sends the session funds to that account. If a connected account goes negative, or a chargeback cannot be recovered from the service provider, any remaining loss is handled under the Stripe agreement. Appty does not hold session funds and does not promise to cover that loss. Toward the client, a payment dispute is handled through Stripe and the service provider.

Service provider responsibilities

Describe your sessions honestly. Set a cancellation policy and show it on your booking page. You edit that policy from the Cancellation policy section of your dashboard. Add a client's details only when you have a lawful basis to do so. Follow the Acceptable Use Policy, and do not use Appty for a business on Stripe's restricted businesses list.

Client responsibilities

Give accurate details when you book. The session agreement is with the service provider. For a question about the session, a cancellation, or a refund of the session fee, contact the service provider first. A parent or guardian books for a minor.

Plans and billing

The Free plan includes an Appty booking fee on card payments. Paid plans, from Basic upward, are subscriptions. The amounts are those shown on our pricing page and in your dashboard when you are charged. This page does not repeat the figures, so it stays correct when a price changes.

A subscription continues until you cancel it. Cancellation stops the next renewal and takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid. Refunds are set out in the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Session payments, fees, and chargebacks

The service provider decides whether a session fee is refunded, and the service provider issues that refund. We can pass a request to the service provider. We cannot require the service provider to refund a session. Once a card payment has been processed, the Appty booking fee and the card processing fee may be non-refundable, except where the law requires a refund, or where we choose to refund them, including when the cause was a technical error on our side. Chargebacks are handled through Stripe and the service provider.

Taxes

Service providers are responsible for taxes on their sessions. Appty does not add a separate tax on its own booking fee or subscription unless the law requires it.

Intellectual property

We own the Appty software, the name, the mark, and this website. Service providers and clients keep the notes and other material they submit.

Permission to use your content

You give us permission to host, display, and send material you submit only so we can run the service. That covers a booking page, a receipt, a reminder, and a family view of sessions. The permission is not a right to sell the material or to use it in advertising. It ends when the material is deleted, apart from copies we still hold for the reasons in the Privacy Policy.

AI assistants and connectors

A provider may connect an AI assistant to their own account, with a sign-in approval or an API key. That assistant can read that provider's bookings, clients, and unpaid balances. A write action is a preview until the provider confirms it. Public tools, with no sign-in, see only the public booking page. Tokens and API keys are stored as hashes. Disconnect from Dashboard > AI assistants > Disconnect, or revoke the API key. Those actions are logged and shown to the provider. Appty does not use this data to train AI models. That is Appty's policy. The Privacy Policy has the rest.

Third-party services

Stripe processes card payments under Stripe's own terms. Email, hosting, analytics, error monitoring, the database, and an optional Google Calendar connection are run by the providers named in the Privacy Policy. An outage at one of those providers is outside our control.

Availability

We provide Appty as it is available. Some parts may be incomplete or described as coming later. We do not promise uninterrupted service, or that a feature will stay as it is.

Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors. We do not give legal, tax, or teaching advice. We are not responsible for the quality, safety, or result of a service provider's session.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost income, lost bookings, or lost data. Our total liability connected with the service is capped at the fees the service provider paid to Appty for the service in the 12 months before the claim. These terms do not limit liability that the law does not allow a contract to limit. Which of those rules apply depends on the governing law below.

Indemnity

If we face a claim because of your sessions, your prices, client data you submit, a refund or dispute with your client, or your breach of these terms, you will cover the resulting loss. We do not ask clients to make a matching promise.

Termination

You may stop using Appty at any time, and you may cancel a paid plan as described under plans and billing. We may suspend or close an account for a breach of the Acceptable Use Policy, for a payments risk, or where the law requires it. What happens to personal information is described in the Privacy Policy, including the data retention section.

Data retention

How long we keep personal information, and the default periods still to be confirmed, are in the Data retention section of the Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

If you keep using Appty after we change these terms, that continued use is your agreement to the new version. We will tell service providers about a material change by email to the service provider's account address before the change takes effect.

Law and disputes

Email hello@getappty.com first so we can try to sort the problem out directly. The governing law is the law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The courts that may hear a claim are the courts of Hong Kong.

The rest of this pack

The Privacy Policy, the Refund & Cancellation Policy, and the Acceptable Use Policy belong with these terms. If a court decides that one sentence cannot be enforced, the rest still stand. Together, these documents are the whole agreement about use of the software.
